Experiences in Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Officially, on the STEAM Store page, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is your last chance to rescue America's sexiest city from an escalating terrorist siege that will force you into heart-pounding action from beginning to end.

This 2008 title is not exactly a easy to play.  Expect heavy resistance from crafty, intuitive, aggressive and smart computer controlled enemy characters.  The game-play concepts and mechanics were relatively new at the time and therefore lack the "spit-shine-finish" of some newer games.  The graphics really are not all bad even when compared to some of today's rubbish that passes for game graphics.  The story line is decent as with all Tom Clancy titled games and the multiplayer cooperative mode is a vast improvement over previous Tom Clancy titles.

Be warned though, there are multiple button commands to figure out as you must tactically lead a four man team into firefights and such... even in single player mode.  In the single player campaign, your team is comprised of computer characters that you must direct.  But, do not misunderstand, the single player experience can be tremendously fun as the cooperative experience.

There was a bug or flaw in the net code that interfered with the sound files.  It seem that in multiplayer cooperative games, many uses encountered a sound loop error.  Even after a certain enemy was killed, their gun fire sound would endlessly repeat.  This sound loop did not affect the server host, but became very annoying to any joining users.

Luckily, I found relatively stable solutions.

I. Sound Loop Dlll Fix:

Simply replace the current .eux.dll file as a fix.  I applied it and played a few story mode coop rounds with some kid online (with and without using Tunngle).  I encountered no sound loop errors...

1. Once you download, unzip the and open the folder insid (its named r6v2_soundbugfix_Cool.

2. Go to where the game’s .exe is located.  For example, mine is in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rainbow Six Vegas 2\Binaries…”

3. Once in there, find the current“eax.dll” and back it up or rename it just in case you need it later.

4. Take the downloaded eax.dll and copy-paste to “…\Rainbow Six Vegas 2\Binaries…”  (where the game’s .exe is located).  For example, mine is in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rainbow Six Vegas 2\Binaries…”

II.  Use Tunngle:

Tunngle is a VPN adapter that enables players to utilized a private LAN environment... join just as you would online over the internet... works for almost any game with LAN capabilities... here's the article:

Try the Sound Loop Dlll Fix first... it is the easiest one if you never have used Tunngle and it is widely useg via STEAM.
