Anticipation for Takedown: Red Sabre

Takedown: Red Sabre

Takedown: Red Sabre is a blast from the military tactical FPS (first person shooter) era that was thought lost forever.  The game is reminiscent of tactical shooters such as SWAT, SOCOM, FEAR, Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. There is no frantic pace to get the best weapon, kill the most bad guys, level up or run-and-gun.  Just a slow pace with teamwork, thinking and planning in a methodical execution is required to accomplish objectives and goals.

The biggest feature that I have noticed is that the number of kills by an individual player or team is not recorded.  One of the reasons for this is that body count has no bearing on mission outcomes.  For example, in a defuse the bomb scenario; it is possible to fail the mission if time is used up killing every single enemy.

Another important feature is "One Hit, One Kill."  This actually means that the enemy AI is not able to absorb 1 well placed shot before going down.

The game lacks regenerative health and the ability to provide medical attention to fallen teammates, which is odd.  However, the game is an old-school tactical FPS and things are bound to change with an updates, patches or mods.

STEAM price of $15 after the September 20th release... http://store.steampowered.com/app/236510.

I guess I would have been better off not pre-ordering.  Everything TB says here is fairly true... bottom line is that the game needs work in order to live half way up to the developer's hype!

It's not necessarily the amount of money ($15 is fairly cheap for a game these days), but it is the audacity of companies (such as this one) to cash-grab and screw the kick-start customers by generating a game not even as good as a similar game from the 1990's.

I highly doubt I will make another per-order ever again!
